Writer's Meme: Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five favorite fics you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.
Oaths: (Forever Knight) This one holds a special place in my heart. It's one of the few non crossovers I've written, and it's a good portion historical -- set in Gaul in 77 AD. I got to read lots of good books, and do lots of research, which I love, in preparation for writing it. It deals with love, betrayal, forgiveness, and revolves around reincarnation. There's actually two versions: the first one was a little too explicit for email list posting back in the day, so I had to edit it down to the version I now have archived. But I think the adult version had some nice hot scenes in it, if I do say so myself [g]
A Ghost of Winter's Past: (Forever Knight/Highlander)The very first gen story I ever posted. And the first time I wrote Methos, and the first time I wrote Methos and LaCroix, my favourite snarky duo. Another mostly historical fic, this one set in LaCroix's childhood in ancient Rome, when his Uncle Methos came to visit one winter.
Ancient Whispers: (Forever Knight/Highlander/Star Trek) Yet another mostly historical story. Are you sensing a trend here? This one starts on the Enterprise, but due to some alien machinations, takes place in Pompeii a few years before that volcano went 'boom!'. I liked seeing something of LaCroix's mortal past, when he was a Roman general. And figuring out what makes him tick -- more or less.
Let Not Your Heart Be Tribbled: (Highlander/Star Trek) Duncan and tribbles. What's not to love? And it just goes to show I can occasionally write non angsty, light-hearted when I set my mind to it!
Broken Window: (Highlander): And on the other side of the spectrum... what was I saying about angst? Not light hearted, not happy. What happens when you spend a few centuries sure that if you'd made different choices, that the people you love would be better off? And what happens when you get to live that other life and it's not at all what you thought? I like this one because it's about the path not taken, regret, and someone waiitng for you on the other side.
Not going to tag anyone, but feel free to jump in.
