Deicsions, Decisions
Trying to decide something for the fic I'm currently writing that involves the existence of Immortals. Care to share your two cents?

ETA: should have clarified that the story in question is my current WIP and part 60 odd of my current series. So my question is based on the background of past stories. Sorry I didn't make that clear.

Spoilers for CA II below.

At the end of the movie, all of SHIELDS files are dumped on the internet. so I have choices to make. Do I let the existence of Immortals be a part of the info dump or not? If yes, it would have far reaching consequences in my universe, and I'm not sure if I want to go there or not.

What do you think? As a Highlander fan, would you like a world where the existence of Immortals was public knowledge? Or would you prefer them to remain hidden?

If I do go there, there would be a matter of degree. For example, Methos' current identity would be public, but there would be no tie back to Methos.

Trying to decide is what's bogging down the muse -- at least currently.

That's kind of the direction I've been learning, but wasn't sure if that was realistic considering the events of the movie.

I think it's realistic for the secret to be kept, not just because of Nick's not being dead being a secret, but because of things in the post CA:WS episodes of M:AoS. The show has made it clear that there are various things Nick kept secret, not just his being alive. I mean with the finale, they established there are enough bases that have remained secret for the team on the show to move from one compromised secret base to another un-compromised one. The info dump obviously wasn't complete no matter how huge it was.

ETA: Also, Nick is the type to have thought about the scale of consequences if news of Highlander Immortals went public. The info dump was about undercutting people seeing HYDRA and SHIELD as one thing. It was about giving people tools to protect themselves from HYDRA, not about exposing them to unnecessary potentially hysteria spawning information. Why would Nick include information about Highlander Immortals when it would not only not help, but would potentially be very dangerous to a lot of people one way or another? Not least of all dangerous to himself.

You have reinforced my first inclination for it all to remain secret :D And Nick promised Charlotte - and Methos - ironclad new identities, so yeah, he'd make it happen.

Definitely feeling more secure in the secret decision now. Thank you.

In the end, I beleive they dumped enough info to be annoying and hurt Hydra but nothing that would actually give away any secrets they needed to rebuild SHEILD..like secret bases run by Patton Oswald clones.

I beleive this because I don't think that the secret of Immortals is something that should be out in the world.

...like secret bases run by Patton Oswald clones.

*Snickers.* The fact that the new "secret base" was also run by a Patton Oswald clone was one of the little details they got me with in the finale, like giving Coulson his energy gun from The Avengers.

I believe this because I don't think that the secret of Immortals is something that should be out in the world.

Yeah, having given it a lot of thought, for me the bottom line is my seeing Nick Fury as knowing that the secret of Immortals should stay secret.
