Pondering
I just may be writing a story that gives some background on Charlotte's Jack Sparrow, as opposed to the one in the movies, that includes Howard Stark and Walt Disney. Yeah. So, up till now, I'd used comics dating for when SHIELD was created, really it only came into play during the Peggy Carter story I wrote a few years back. But now, I think I need to do some retconning. That short about Peggy that was on the IM III DVD seems to be saying that Howard created it, or mostly created it, two-three years after the end of WWII. So, 1950ish? Basically, a few months after the end of the Peggy fic, there's going to be a party at Howard's, and I need to date it. I also need to rewrite some of the Peggy story. Poked around the Marvel wiki, but it keeps hanging when I try to get to pages.

Look! A real post!

Ah yes, I'd forgotten Nick didn't actually found it, only came up with the idea. I've been re-reading some Cap and Wolverine lately and Nick being inspired by Cap was in one of them.

Well Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD began in 1968 so it must have been between the end of WW2 and then so 1950 is as good as any and Howard had a hand in it in both movie and comic 'verses so I reckon Ith's on to a winner.

Given that (while I read Marvel Comics seriously for 15 years) I haven't read the books seriously in over 10 years, I've taken to checking the wikis at marvel.com, marvel.wikia.com, and wikipedia when I want to get a wide view of something I'm shaky on. ;)

I've been re-reading some Cap and Wolverine lately and Nick being inspired by Cap was in one of them.

One of the reasons I cross check is to try and be sure that the information I'm looking at is a) from the particular Marvel universe I want--616, 199999, etc--and b) it's current, or relatively current canon. Gotta watch out for retcons.

Yep. The wikis all said Nick spent time working for the CIA between the end of WWII and his recruitment into SHIELD. Some of his CIA work was in Korea during that War which was '50-'53. :D

I came across the CIA bit back when I was writing another story, and had used that. I think Nick will be absent fro this particular story, except in spirit :D
