'Outlander' Coming to TV
Apparently, STARZ is making 'Outlander' into a TV series. I know the idea has been tossed around on and off over the years, but it seems it's for real this time. Here's hoping whoever they cast as Jamie is actually Scottish. I'm not current with young actors that might fit the role -- anyone have casting thoughts?

I love her books, but the Doctor Who thing must have gone right past me. Had never heard that before. Like actors who seem to think I care about their political views, I try and ignore the personal stuff from authours, or I'd never read or watch anything ever again :D

I usually don't pay attention to personal stuff as well, but this was so infuriating - she belittled people in three posts on a writer's forum, and when fan writers responded politely with explanations of why they write, she didn't much like their replies, at which point her friends showed up to offend people even more, and when she got called on comparing rape to fanfiction, she got insulted and deleted the whole thing. There are screencaps around - though honestly, it's just better to stay away and not spoil your enjoyment of her work.

Oh, I remember it, I just didn't get involved, delve into the details. I did unsub from her email list, so I didn't have to read about it 24/7. She's not nearly as nutty as the Anita Blake authour. LKH fandom seemed to be a constant drama there for years due to shenanigans :D

She was the one who kicked off the last 'fan fiction is evil' kuffule. A few years ago now, thankfully (which sadly means we are probably due for another one). I really enjoyed her Lord John short stories but the novel-length one didn't sit we'll with me and then the kuffule so...

But, yeah, her hero she was inspired by Jamie McCrimmon (played by Frazer Hines) the Second Doctor's Scottish companion.

Hmm, don't see much similarity between the two - other than the name and where they're from. That's probably why it never pinged me as I was reading. Thanks for the info :)
