"Mary Sue, what are you? or why the concept of Sue is sexist"
Found this on Tumblr.

So, there’s this girl. She’s tragically orphaned and richer than anyone on the planet. Every guy she meets falls in love with her, but in between torrid romances she rejects them all because she dedicated to what is Pure and Good. She has genius level intellect, Olympic-athelete level athletic ability and incredible good looks. She is consumed by terrible angst, but this only makes guys want her more. She has no superhuman abilities, yet she is more competent than her superhuman friends and defeats superhumans with ease. She has unshakably loyal friends and allies, despite the fact she treats them pretty badly. They fear and respect her, and defer to her orders. Everyone is obsessed with her, even her enemies are attracted to her. She can plan ahead for anything and she’s generally right with any conclusion she makes. People who defy her are inevitably wrong.

God, what a Mary Sue.

I just described Batman.

The whole thing here.

The annoying thing is, ALL main characters fit what's become the definition of Mary Sue. It's basically a meaningless term now, because originally, Mary Sue/Gary Stu were not meant to apply to canon characters. They were meant to apply to fic OCs that became more important than canon characters to a ridiculous degree. The things that make a canon character unique and worth reading about automatically launch them into Sue/Stu territory, which is why I hate the term.

Hee! So true :D About Batman that is - and the rest of the article is interesting too. You need OCs for stories, but fandom has such a thing about them sometimes.

I've always said that Amanda (HL) is a bit of a Mary Sue. She's the perfect theif and although Duncan has a strict set of moral standards, he just can't help but not care that Amanda breaks them all because she's so...special. Richie just can't help but almost wet his pants and give up every secret he knows when she flirts with him. Joe is even taken in by her charm and beauty.

A young woman wants to be like her so much she cuts and dyes her hair and changes her wardrobe to look just like her.

Tessa is insanely jealous of her. Of course, she can walk a tightrope and fight men and just pretty much do it all.
