Torchwood: Miracle Day
After the season ender of Camelot tonght (which I really enjoyed) they showed a preview for Miracle Day. I've been ambivalent about this new Torchwood, but after seeing the preview.... it made me cringe. The only segment that didn't make me cringe was Bill Pullman's, and to a certain extent, Eva's (and normally, John Barrowman is a winner for me). It was all so over the top, scenery chewing, not-making-me-want-to-watch-this, and over wrought. I have no idea how it plays to people with little to no knowledge of Torchwood, but I can't believe it will encourage viewership. But that just might be me. I dunno, I'll watch at least a few eps, and hope I'm wrong.

Re: Torchwood, I started cringing when I read the synopsis for it! I mean, seriously? A world where no one dies? WTF?!

I might find the concept intriguing, if not the show, but it's abundantly clear from how it's being talked about that it isn't being done with any logical consistency. I mean people aren't suppose to heal just not die, and yet Bill Pullman's character is up and walking around after being executed in a way that should make for very limited body functionality. Not to mention lines in places like Entertainment Weekly about the terminal ill suffering endlessly without dying while criminals are invulnerable. *Rollseyes.*

According to the promo, it's some nefarious plot. Of course it is!

the last episode of Torchwood really disappointed me, and the preview for this one also made me cringe. I can cross my fingers and hope it's better than it looks, but, I did that for the new Star Wars movies too, and, you know...

We know how that turned out indeed [g]

It's not just you, but it is nice to hear from someone who's merely been "ambivalent" about this new Torchwood rather than dreading it. Given your saying Bill Pullman's was the only one that didn't make you cringe, it's easier for me to understand how the writer at TIME Magazine could say the series "stars" Bill Pullman without mentioning any of the other cast. Reminds of the talk about the guy that played Frobisher in the aftermath of CoE. Of course lots of things about MD have been reminding me of CoE, and none of them in good ways.

I have no emotional investment in Torchwood. I watched it if it was on, and didn't really miss it when it was gone. But after what I saw last night, I think they should have just let it die and stay dead. This is some sort of Zombie Apocalypse Torchwood. Brains!!

It was pretty amazing just how good Pullman was compared to the rest.

Thanks. Depending on what one views as Torchwood I'm either a "bitter ex-Torchwood" fan or a "classic Torchwood" fan. I totally lack any perspective.

But after what I saw last night, I think they should have just let it die and stay dead.

*Nods.* I had hoped it was just going to stay dead. I mean when FOX had the good sense to pass on it... but no Starz had to go and buy this train wreck. *Facepalm.*

This is some sort of Zombie Apocalypse Torchwood. Brains!!

I've seen some joke that RTD happened to notice how big zombies are currently, and is trying to get in on the action. I think it's simpler than that. He just didn't get enough zombie action with zombie Owen second season.

It was pretty amazing just how good Pullman was compared to the rest.

They've hired a whole lot of "guest stars" as part of their trying to pasty over how bad the story is, and Bill is just one of the ones I've adored a long time. Ernie Hudson and John de Lancie are a couple of the others. No one--not John Barrowman, Bill Pullman, or anyone else--is getting me to watch RTD try and call something Torchwood that has this little to do with the Torchwood I love(d).

Really not sure I want to watch it ;( new Torchwood
Kinda gave up on Camelot as o don't much like Eva and she seems to take over the whole episode with her creepy green eyes ;(
