Little Things
Why is it when you're feeling overwhelmed by big things, it's the little things that just set you off? My little thing is my missing iTune playlists and I'm beside myself over it. It's one of those things that take hours over many months to get just the way you want them and the thought of trying to recreate them makes me very unhappy. Not sure what happened, but iTunes upgraded to 9 last week, and it was all fine. We think it was because it only finished installing on Nin's side of the computer on Tuesday. Or not. Don't really know. Anyway, I opened iTunes yesterday to discover an ancient playlist from when the harddrive died last year. The same playlist that wouldn't import when we started with the new HD necessitating me recreating all my playlists! ARGH! And because I misunderstood a conversation I had with Nin, I didn't realize I could backup my lists. It's stupid, but looking at iTunes is about setting me off into tears.

Stupid.

***BIG HUGS***

I had an email today that mentioned that iTunes had released a crappy update that was causing problems with iPhones and iPod Touches, so it may be the updates fault. Not that that helps you recover your playlists.

I recently discovered Nutsie, you can easily back up your songs and I think it will do playlists too. If you can't recover and have to rebuild it may be worth remotely backing up to them? It also means you can listen to your tunes anytime you have internet connection but no Pod (which is what I loved!)

Anyway, I hope you manage to fix it with minimal fuss. Have a cuppa and a big bar of chocolate, it's always good for what ails you.

Thank you :) Will check out the link after I've finished making jam today.

Awww honey! *hugs you* We had a problem at work with the 9 upgrade and the IT guys reloaded 8 and things went back to normal, including my customer's playlist. Maybe that might help?
Ithithildyn on September 17th, 2009 09:18 pm (UTC)
Will look into it when Nin gets home. She didn't have anything happen to her playlists, so it's just oddness. Thanks for the tip.

*hugs* As the person who has been overwhelmed with the little things lately, I completely understand. Hopefully all won't be lost and you can get your playlists back.

Aww, doesn't it just suck. And no, it's not silly that looking at iTunes is upsetting. Here's some news that will hopefully cheer you up: Next June the girls and I are moving to Cedar City. Dude, we will be close enough to visit and do lunch type things and scout out alcohol and do more food type things and drag Nin and my girls all over the place with us... Sounds good, eh?
Ithithildyn on September 17th, 2009 09:15 pm (UTC)
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're one bride closer LOL

I can't tell you how happy I am right this second, I think I'm going to cry.

Cedar City, woooooot! We looked at houses there and here and SG. It's a really nice town. Even am thinking of applying for jobs there, but the pass in the winter can be problematical. We're as far from Cedar as we are from St. George.

Maybe because we can't do anything about the big upsets, being that they're in the hands of others, so we get upset on the little things that (were supposed to) be in our control?

I haven't dared upgrade my itunes at all. Precisely because of this issue. A task for this week. Meanwhile, have some chocolate, and breath in the crisp scent of fall air . . .
Ithithildyn on September 17th, 2009 09:16 pm (UTC)
Yeah, you have a point :)

Because the smaller things are manageable to be angry about. It helps to siphon off some of the stress and frustration at the big things.

At least, that's the story I keep telling myself. ((HUG))

Thanks :)

*HUGS YOU BIG*

i understand completely hun. i have had days that have been so bad, that at the end of them i have burst into tears for as little as one of the cats ignoring me.

now i douse myself in bacon grease, and that doesn't happen anymore.

but i stink.

*BIG HUGS AGAIN*
Ithithildyn on September 17th, 2009 11:37 pm (UTC)
Bacon grease? Uh... okay then! LOL

{hugs from me, too}

I know how you feel! It's been a slightly crazy day here & I just snapped at my daughters for asking for water after they'd gone to bed. :-( Ah well, it was a good moment to illustrate how to apologize & ask forgiveness!

I hope you & Nin can iron out the iTunes problem. I want a magic computer stick to shake at misbehaving 'puters & scare them into working correctly! {grin}
Black Wolfdet_munch on September 18th, 2009 01:49 am (UTC)
my god yes! The small things and the random things etc. things that would never bother you before. My issue also, is that I will get angry about something and it gets to me,now I have a natural problem with anger/frustration and letting them get control of me and overwhelm me, but I will feel like I am over something, and have gained control but then something else, as you said, usually small, happens and it just completely sets me off.

It also happens with feeling sad or depressed. I will get into a funk where I'm dealing with a lot of negative feelings about myself and life and then small things will just break me down.

{{{{{{{Ith}}}}}}

I've seen complaints about the iTunes update all over, so it's not just you. I've done the update, but haven't sync'd the iPod, since I haven't added anything new recently. That may be something to add to the weekend to-do list :)
