The Great Unsing Fic & Vid Party 2010 Edition
Happy New Year! We've come around once more to that time of the year where I hold the Great Unsung Fic & Vid party. Every year, lovely gems are discovered in the comments, and I'm sure this year will be no exception. Please feel free to advertise this where you will! The more, the merrier.

There are the fic and vids that get tons of comments and recced and nominated for awards... and then there's the rest.

Here's the plan: if you wrote or created something in 2010 that you were really proud of, but you're pretty sure that no one other than maybe your mother read or viewed, then rec it in the comments. Tell us a bit about it, and include a link, of course. And if you enjoyed something this year by someone else that you thought didn't get nearly enough love, then you can rec that too. And it doesn't have to be confined to LJ postings. (If you aren't positive the story or vid you want to rec was created in 2010, that's fine. It's not like I have minions that are going to go check!). Or you can rec your own stuff and someone else's! And more than once too! I'm easy.

I figure it will provide some entertainment for those of us who aren't going out for the holiday, and spread some New Year love around for some of the lonely creative endeavors out there.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with, so don't be shy!

And hey, even if you did get love, there's nothing wrong with being an attention junkie, so pass on whatever you'd like even more love for. We promise not to tease you.

OK, here's the fic that almost nobody read - Green Day.

It's theoretically a Supernatural story, but an extreme AU in which there are no supernatural forces. So you don't need to know SPN to apprecaite it. And the main character is one that, well, almost everybody hates. And it reads more like 'The Wire' in tone than Supernatural. But it's good, really! *hides*

It's probably sung enough given that it's not even a small fandom - it's a miniature one - but nonetheless, I'll drop in Glass Coffin. If only I could turn more people into VR.5 fans so they'd write me post-series Oliver/Sydney fic.

Er. You say 2009 in the post. Do you mean 2010? If so, delete this comment once you change it!

Thanks for catching that :)

Oh, you're welcome! ::cheerful:: It just tells me which fic of mine I want to pimp.

I'm picking I Am Going To the West because it took me so long to finish it, that by the time I did, most people had given up on it and never finished reading it once it was done. Totally my fault, but no harm in hoping a few more people will read it. I know really long fics are an investment in a reader's time, and I appreciate the effort to plow through to the end :)

Right! Okay. Since I am still fighting a mind-numbingly long case of writers block (2007 people, 2007!)I simply can't recommend any fic of mine whatsoever. So I sought diversion and found Sherlock. I have totally been taken over by the new Sherlock from BBC. And having sifted through a lot of garbage over at FF.n, I stumbled upon a writer named Richefic.

I am hugely blown away by the quality of this person's writing. I have given reviews and even wrote a personal note telling them how awesome their fics are but sadly I think they have vaporized into thin air.

But I digress.

She has written seven Sherlock fics, and they simply get better with each new posting. I even decided a re-reading was necessary now that I am home again, and they really are very very good fics. And I am picky folks! So if anyone is hooked by the new Sherlock, I highly recommend Richefic's works.

And I have a request. Apparently she was also very active in the Highlander fandom and is also very active in the NCIS fandom. Does any one know this person and can she be contacted?? I would love to contact her.

Thanks, Ith!

Embodyment Of Hope by Kathryn Andersen ( Sandman / Narnia Prose ) [2010-08-11] (408w)
Aslan meets Despair of the Endless, and she is comforted. ( Crossover )

This one seemed to fall under the radar; it's not like the fandoms involved are really popular ones.

My first fanfiction, Highlander (Methos) based but immortality isn't the focus:

HL Gen
May I list my two 2010 HL stories? I always take FK stories home to fkfic-l, but I don't really have an HL home. Both are canonically-compliant gen:

Re: HL Gen
You could post them to HL Fiction, and they'll show up as the most recent stories to anyone who hits the front page?

Thank you for the suggestion!

"Souls Unbodied," mostly Highlander with an X-Files character wandering through; he was hired to do a job, after all. I juggled three teams after the same objective, one hunter waiting to see who was going to show up at the watering hole, and one team watching for hunters. And then they started combining, recombining, and trying to kill Kenny. I thought it was a great caper.
